In all the years I have been working as a medium, travelling back and forth to parents homes who have been struggling with encounters, I’m yet to actually find a spirit causing trouble. Putting it logically, when you have a bunch of deceased family members in spirit hanging around you, they are not going to let any strangers walk in and cause grief.
A ghost encounter will have your child smiling and giggling, lit up and having fun. It is your family after all just popping in to have a play and say hello. You may not be able to see them yourself, but they are still always trying to maintain their relationships and bond with their family here on Earth.
When the child claims to be seeing a figure in their room and they’re left feeling scared and worried, particularly at night, chances are it is negative energy at play. A quick sprinkle of salt on the ground and vacuum thereafter tends to the trick!
What to do if you think your child is having spiritual encounters.
At the end of the day this is up to your discretion as the parent in this scenario.
Some parents choose to embrace spirit, allowing and encouraging their child/ren to build relationships with their passed over loved ones. Some parents choose to help in the process of shutting it out (things such as “you’re just hearing voices, nobody is really there, you were just daydreaming”) which in the longer term will slow down the encounters and eventually, remove them completely.
I always suggest that if you are encouraging the communication, that you embrace and share photos and memories that you have of the spirit with your child. Share stories together, they also will quip up with facts and interesting bits and pieces of your loved one in spirits life.
If you pull out your phone and video your child playing, you may be lucky enough to see an orb fly across the screen, such as in this photo I took of my best friends Grandmother Molly whilst she was visiting (as above).
Why Salt for negative encounters?
Salt is my go-to to remove negative energy as it holds quite potent natural healing qualities. It naturally sucks up the negative energy and as someone that feels the presence of energy, I can assure you it works. Some recommend Sea Salt, some recommend Himalayan. I don’t care what type of salt it is, to me it works just as well so I’m often spotted as the lady with the bottle of Saxa salt running around sprinkling in on the floor.
Sprinkle it gently on the floor, in corners, around entry/exit points to the house. If you believe that the negative energy might be from a neighbour, sprinkle the salt along the fence line.
In my experience, this is often all you need to help get your children sleeping soundly again. Once this method has been tested, if you’re still experiencing difficulties within the two to three months following, then I suggest that you contact a reputable medium.
A real-life encounter.
I was called to a mother’s house, Samantha, after months long drama with her 3 year old son waking up multiple times throughout the night crying. Emmett would always point to the corner of the room and describe a black figure with scary red eyes, staring at him and yelling at him.
I deliberately organised a time to cleanse the house without Emmett around, wanting to see that if he was unaware of my cleansing if it would continue on. I was instantly drawn to her backyard and side fence, where a huge amount of negative energy had built up as a result of less-than-pleasant neighbours.
After sprinkling salt along the back fence, entry and exit points of the house and throughout his bedroom in particular, I felt a friendly presence nearby. We quickly confirmed that it was Samantha’s cousin who had tragically passed away a few years prior. On that note, I left and said the only encounter I would expect Emmett to have moving forward for a while, would be with her passed on family and especially her cousin.
Once Emmett returned home from school, he excitedly ran over to his mum and claimed that he could see her Cousin in spirit. Samantha was shocked, as it was not only a validation of what I had seen, but her son Emmett did not know much of this cousin nor knew of my visit. He spent some time happily chatting with his mum about the details of her cousin that only she and I knew. Moving forward, we have not had any complaints from Master Emmett of figures in the room, he is also definitely sleeping better!
